FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions about Plymouth Informed.
We will keep
updating this page regularly.
Q: How do I register as a user?
A: Go to the 'New Users' section and follow the instructions. This
will lead you through the registration process.
Q: I've forgotten my password?
A: Check your email you received when you initially
registered on the site. This email contains your username and
password details. If you no longer have this email then please
re-register on the site, however for security purposes you must use a different username.
Q. Why won't a map display on my screen?
A. When you first use the site you will be asked to download
a Java Applet. This allows you to
interact with the maps. You need
to accept this download and the map will be displayed. You only need
to do this once per visit or you can select the 'Always trust
content from Intergraph Corporation' option before clicking the
‘Yes’ button to do this automatically. It
is also worth checking that your system meets our technical
requirements. You
can read more about them here.
Q. The size of the text is too small?
A. You are likely to be viewing this site with a screen
resolution of 1024 x 768. Some older computers run at a lower
screen resolution (800 x 600) and this site has been set up to allow
them to easily access it (ie. the text looks much bigger on these
computer screens). However text sizes can be increased on the
site by either (a) going into your Internet Explorer settings -
'View' and then 'Text size', and then making the appropriate
adjustment or (b) using the wheel on your mouse, if you have one,
whilst holding down the 'Ctrl' key.
Q. The displayed map could be
bigger as there is a lot of space around it?
A. This is almost the same reason as the possible small text
sizes. Again the site has been set up to be easily accessed by
older computers (800 x 600 screen resolution). These computers
will display the map filling the screen.
Q. Printed maps are not fitting on the page?
A. We have created the printable page to work with most printers.
You will need to set your page margins to allow the whole print
to fit on the page. Both Internet Explorer and Netscape both set an inch wide margin
around each printed page by default. To reset your page margins
select Page Setup from the File menu of your browser. You will be
presented with a page setup dialog box. Simply set the Top margin
and Left margin values to '0' and click OK. All future prints in
your browser will use these new margin settings.
