2.  How to navigate around the site

a)  The Homepage

The homepage contains a number of useful links and supporting material about the site.

Logos - The top left hand corner contains the Plymouth 2020 partnership logo. This site is owned and managed by Plymouth 2020, the Local Strategic Partnership (it is maintained by Plymouth City Council on their behalf). Clicking on the logo takes you straight to the 2020 website.

The bottom right hand corner contains the GeoMedia logo.  GeoMedia WebMap is the software that ‘drives’ the site. Clicking on the logo takes you straight to the website containing more information about the software.

Left hand column - The left hand column has buttons which link to the majority of the supporting material. These pages all have direct navigation back to the homepage and also the help pages.

Below these buttons is the logon facility for registered users. To find out how to become a registered user (requiring registration, and the need to logon) please click on the ‘New Users’ button or click here.

Right hand column - The right hand column contains important information about Ordnance Survey (OS) mapping and its copyright implications. Clicking on the OS logo takes you straight to their website.  Below this is an area containing ‘Whats New’ on the site.

Central panel - The central panel is introductory material with a photograph of Sutton Harbour in the Barbican area of Plymouth, copyright of Motiongrafik.  The building is the National Marine Aquarium.  The map beneath is the exact area covered by the photograph.  Beneath these images and text is the main button to ‘Enter the Site’.  By clicking on this you will be taken to the main map page.  Please be patient whilst the first map is generated.  You will see an animated i logo indicating that the map is being drawn down from the server.  This should take under 10 seconds but obviously depends on the power of your PC and its connections to the internet.  You will then be able to see a street map of the whole city.

At the foot of the panel there are links to important Copyright, Privacy and Disclaimer information.
