Monitoring and Evaluation

Monitoring and Evaluation

The following pages provide advice and guidance for undertaking monitoring and evaluation as well as providing evaluation reports that provide an evidence base for future regeneration work in the City. The information is particularly aimed at project managers, practitioners or managers of organisations.

What is Monitoring?

Monitoring is the routine, systematic collection of information for the purpose of checking your project's progress against your project plans.

What is Evaluation?

Evaluation is the process of measuring whether an organisation has achieved or is on the way to achieving its previously agreed goals.

The document below is a guide written by the now disbanded Plymouth Monitoring and Evaluation Development Group (PMEDG). The purpose of this guide is to provide a useful overview of some of the key issues that require consideration for monitoring and evaluation.
